Hagar and the God Who Sees

$150.00

A 12”x24” canvas print of an oil painting of Hagar and the God Who Sees. Originally part of a triptych that depicts Hagar, then Jesus as water, and the Woman at the Well. I wanted to show that Hagar was the first to name God. She called him “The God Who Sees.” She met him at a well foreshadowing Jesus as living water. Then many years later another woman would meet him at a well and she would be the first to tell people publicly that he was the Messiah. Both women met Jesus at a well, he is the living water. The other two paintings of Jesus as water and The Woman at the Well can be purchased separately. They are not included.

Hagar was the first person to name God.

She was a woman in a patriarchal society, a slave, the lowest in society, and an unmarried, pregnant refugee.

She shows us that he is the God who sees everyone.

He saw Hagar that day in the wilderness, meeting her at a well in her darkest moment of desperation. He met her where she was at and gave her the honor of being the first to name him.

He is El Roi, the God who sees, and he sees you too.
